Trending for Fall: Plaid

One of my absolute favorite trends from last year was plaid and I am SO happy that it will be sticking around for Fall. I know there are still a lot of plaid skeptics out there; I used to be one of them. Every time I would see someone in plaid I would think "you know you are not in a barn, right?" Not anymore. Plaid is finally fashionable (when style right, that is) and I am loving it!

I bought my first pair of plaid pants in sixth grade. I do not still have them, but I remember them like it was yesterday. I bought my second pair of plaid pants a little over a week ago when I walked into Old Navy and saw the most amazing berry colored plaid Pixies (top left). Then I was really hooked. I started researching plaid pants to see what my next pair might look like. That is when I came across the patriotic looking pair, by Tommy Hilfiger of course. I learned very quickly that this was not going to just be a passing trend, but a HUGE one. I found pair after pair of gorgeous plaid pants. From New York & Company to Lands End, everyone had them. Express has the largest selection by far (the entire bottom row are from there) -- both ankle pants (1, 2, 3) & boot cut included.

Next thing I know I am thing about how I have not bought a new plaid shirt since last year! Can you ever have too many plaid shirts when they layer so well? Definitely not. You can stick with classic plaid shirts from Old Navy, Forever 21 (1 & 2), and Ralph Lauren OR dress it up a bit with these options from Old Navy, Forever 21, and Express.

Then it dawned on me...there is a whole world of plaid goodness out there that I never even considered. I bought a plaid cardigan last year, but I am loving the one above from Forever 21 so much more. That got my thinking that I have never owned a plaid blazer so now I am practically dying for one; especially this beauty from Tommy Hilfiger. If you want to go a little funkier, Lands End has a cute option complete with fringe. And since winter is right around the corner (sad, I know), why not pick up a plaid coat too!? What I am really loving right now is plaid skirts and dresses. I just love the idea of dressing plaid up (I wear mine with pearls quite a bit). Old Navy and New York & Company have great skirt options. If you want to go a bit bolder, try a dress from Old Navy or Lands End (this is at the top of my want list right now--I am broke, but obsessed with it).

So what do you think about plaid? Have I convinced you to board my plaid-crazy train?
