I have been suffering from a severe case of city withdrawal lately. These past few weeks have been rough, as I frequently find myself daydreaming of an urban lifestyle. The middle of nowhere can do that to people...make them wish they were living a different life.
One thing I have been thinking about is outdoor spaces in an urban area. Now, being surrounded by woods and mountains I am obviously not lacking anything outdoorsy. However, I wonder if this is something I would miss if not residing in such a rural area. I mean, even in suburbia I had outdoor space. This got me looking into rooftop decks/gardens/entertaining areas and I am floored at all of the amazing things you can do on a roof (you know, since mine have always been angled and not flat).
So, these are all of the things I want in my future rooftop space...
1) A cozy little hideaway.
Really...does it get more cozy than this!? I love every thing about this. Obsessed. After all, the primary purpose of this space would be for me to get away and relax.
2) An amazing view.
If you know anything about me by now (other than I am a shopaholic), it is that I am a sucker for a good view. A must-have, for sure.
3) Multi-functional space.
I want it all. I want space to kick back and relax, cook & eat, read a book, do yoga...whatever. I just want the space to be multi-functional.
4) Fun space.
While the primary purpose of my rooftop space would be to escape and relax, the secondary purpose would be to entertain & have fun. That means that I must have some fun/game space. Huge chess seems fun, but oversized Scrabble would be even better. Anything fun, really.
5) Greenery.
I do not have a green thumb by any means, so I have no intention of going overboard, but I would like to see a bit of green.
What would be your must haves? I am likely to be forgetting something important!!
