September in Review

I cannot believe that September is almost complete. I feel like just yesterday I was preparing for my students to be back. It has been rather hectic so far in this academic year, so I suppose it would not be abnormal that the time got away from me. Nonetheless, I cannot believe October is right around the corner. Don't get me wrong, I am excited -- I love fall & October is by far my favorite month. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. October isn't here yet, so lets focus on this month before it drifts away.

1. I may be the only person who has this problem, but over time my nightstand has turned into an electronic graveyard. This is actually relevant to this discussion, I swear. So I was cleaning up my dresser one day when out of nowhere, I found my old Blackberry. You would not believe how much I love and miss this phone. I love my iPhone and all, but nothing will surpass my Blackberry. I know that is insane, but I don't care. I cannot bring myself to open the nightstand drawer and add it to the electronic graveyard so it sits on my dresser as a reminder of awesomeness.
2. Old school McDonald's toys. That's right, I still have my old Happy Meal transformers. Don't judge me. I am not always a pack rat, but when it comes to something this classic and amazing...of course I am keeping it!
3. I mentioned Banned Book Week in a post last week and this is the Out of Reach Atrium Display we did. It turned out better than I imagined. It is essentially books hanging on wire throughout the four floors of our library atrium. The message is that censorship & book banning makes access to knowledge out of reach. I stare at it randomly throughout the day in admiration. I never want to take it down. Unfortunately, we will be in a couple of weeks. This may be a repeat display next year because it is too good to just trash it & forget about it.
4. Oh you know, just busting out the bright colors while I still can. We had a bit of warm weather in the first half of the month so I took advantage by keeping some of my summer wardrobe rotating and rocking those bright colors. Gotta enjoy it while I can!
5. Oh my goodness. Apple pie from Uno is my new obsession. I mean, I am a big apple pie a la mode fan. Not huge, because I am way more into chocolate, but I certainly wouldn't turn it down if you offered it to me. Best part about Uno's: it has an oatmeal crumb topping. Delicious!
6. Bruno Mars. Love. Enough said.
7. I don't know if I have ever mentioned it here before, but I am a collector of owls. Seriously, you should see my office -- I have SO many in there! This is the newest owl to my collection, courtesy of mi madre. It now holds all of my sharpies :)
8. My Mom & I went to see Michael Buble in Philly last weekend. Highlight of my month? No. Highlight of my year! It was an absolutely amazing show. I want to quit my job and follow him around the country. Sure, he's gorgeous...but his voice is breathtaking. He sings so perfectly, so effortlessly. It is mind blowing.
9. Insomnia Cookies AKA heaven in a box...delivered right to my hotel room door, fresh out of the oven. Yes, you read that right...delivered FRESH out of the oven. Go get some. Now.
10. The city, my love <3
11. It is really starting to look like fall here. This picture doesn't do it justice. So many of the trees are beautiful hues of red, orange and yellow. I love them crunching beneath my feet. I hope they fall very slowly though because I am not ready to stare at naked it trees until April (yeah, we have long winters here).
12. The temperatures are finally getting to what I have been looking forward to for months. I love walking to the gym in high thirties. This particular morning, I think I was either on my way home from the gym or on my way to work. This is a great morning temperature IMO. I would love to live somewhere that averages between 37-75 all the time.
13. It is hard to tell with the photo re-sized so small, but I am wearing my brand new owl scarf. Charming Charlie 2/$20 scarf sale = pure awesome sauce.
14. We have had some crazy fog in the mornings lately. This photo I took on my way to the gym at 5:50am. My friends tease me, saying it looks like it is straight out of a horror film. Trust me ladies, I am way more concerned about being attacked by a bear on the way to the gym than a person.
15. Night & Day Mocha. I could live at Night & Day, I'm pretty sure. I assume at some point I would have continuous shakes from all of the espresso, but I don't care. I usually get chai, but I was in the mood for something different on this day. Yum.
16. My BFF Val sent me these beautiful flowers just a couple days ago. I love them so much! Thanks again, Twin!

What did your month look like?
