Weekend Away

Last week I mentioned that I would be away for the weekend and I would bring you all up to speed on my trip sometime this week. Well, that time has come. I spent the weekend in one of my favorite places, Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, I had to work on Friday so we did not get on the road until Saturday morning. The GPS took us a rather strange route, but it did get us there faster so I guess I can't complain. I just love the city so much, I don't care if I am there for two weeks or two minutes.

We stayed at my usual hotel, The Latham. I have blogged about it before so I won't go into great detail. I just want to mention how much I love that there are reading lights on the headboard. I don't know who's genius idea that was, but they are brilliant.

We had wonderful weather when we first arrived so we did have the opportunity to walk around a bit. After grabbing a bite to eat at Cosi, one of my faves, we walked around Rittenhouse. There was an art festival so I spent a significant amount of time gawking at amazing works of art that unfortunately I cannot afford.

I swear there was actually a purpose for the trip, more than my withdrawal symptoms from not having been there in too long. My Mom celebrated her birthday nearly a month ago now and her present from me this year was tickets to Michael Buble. I am not going to lie...it was a present for me too because I have wanted to see him for while (and he finally came back to the states)!

It was without a doubt one of the best shows I have ever been to. He is so personable and his ability to interact with the audience is amazing. Not to mention he sings perfectly, so effortlessly. It is difficult to be even better live than you are in a recording studio, but he most certainly is.

[ Insomnia Cookies = Delicious ]

As if the night couldn't get any better, after the show we were hungry so we had Insomnia Cookies delivered to our hotel room. Have I mentioned that they are hot from the oven? Oh yeah, delicious.

Now for the downsides to the trip. For the second trip in a row I have gotten a cabbie that I had to give directions to. Luckily, I knew where I was going. It did start raining while we were at the show so it was a soggy night. Most frustrating of all...I didn't have enough time to go everywhere I wanted to. You know, the usual complaint.

Even if the trip was short, it was beyond sweet. It was just what I needed to rest up for this week. I am already looking forward to my next getaway, whenever that may be.
