Hello, October. I have missed you so much!
If you are anything at all like me, you are head over heels for October. I literally spend most of the year waiting for October to come and then sink into depression once it passes and I am stuck with November. But only two days into this fantastic month, we have a ways to go before the most depressing day of the year (AKA November 1st) so let's take full advantage. Check out my Fall To Do List below...
1. Embrace all things pumpkin. That's right...it is an absolute must! From pumpkin pie to Jack-o-Lanterns...you cannot have fall without pumpkins. I personally think it should be it's own food group. If you don't agree, clearly you haven't tried my pumpkin muffins or cupcakes. Just saying.
2. Break out the boots. You know you have been itching to pull those fall boots over your feet for at least a couple of weeks now. If you are me, you even gave into temptation already. That's ok, it happens sometimes. But now it is actually time to break out the boots & get them ready for a long few seasons. I hear rumors of a pretty rough winter, so all of you east coasters better warn your boots ahead of time that they are going to be getting a lot of use this year!
3. Host a bonfire party! Who doesn't like a good fire? Weird people, that's who. I'm sorry, but seriously. S'mores, stuffed banana boats, mountain pies...where can you go wrong!?
4. Jump in a pile of leaves. Yes, I am serious. It is ok (more than ok, in all honesty) to embrace your inner child. I remember how amazing it felt to catch the wind in my hair as I took a leap of faith into a mountainous pile of leaves. You do to...don't deny it. Why not have that feeling again? Seriously, give me one good reason.
5. Go on a hayride, through a corn maze, or visit a haunted house. So aside from the things listed above, one of the best parts of October is Halloween (by far my favorite holiday). Enjoy a nice hay ride or go through a corn maze. Listen, I was trapped in a corn maze once for what seemed like an eternity, but nevertheless...it is an experience I feel everyone should have (just try it once and then I will shut up). If your allergies will literally jump out of your head and beat you into unconsciousness just at the thought of either of those options, try a haunted house. Even if you don't like scary things, go with a group of friends anyway. It is meant to be fun, a look back and laugh experience...not terrify and torment you.
I hope you are excited as I am that October is finally here & that you embrace my checklist (and send me photos/comments as you do -- I would love to feature them here).
Happy Falloween season!
