Hello, lovlies! So for those of you who do not come around regularly, I hardly ever review beauty products. Why? Because I don't get them. I buy & use them, but I don't get them. I do not know how to properly apply makeup and basically just do what I can to get by. However, while I am an avid supporter of Clinique, I purchased a tarte collection a couple of weeks ago that I am passionate about.
A couple of weeks ago in the midst of a night ridden with insomnia, I was flipping through the channels. I would not say that I am a QVC addict (though my mother is so I guess it could be genetic), but I do enjoy watching it on occasion. Before my work schedule changed, I watched it every Sunday for In the Kitchen with David because he is simply wonderful. Anyway, back to the story. I stopped on QVC because they were showing women putting on makeup. Now this is something that caught my eye given my admitted lack of beauty skill/technique. I watched this beautiful woman's face go from being naturally red and freckled to pure perfection. My jaw literally dropped. How did that happen!? I had to know what this product was.
It was nearing midnight and the last Today's Special Value presentation of the day. They begin to go into detail about the product and before I even heard everything that was included in the collection, I purchased. I didn't care the cost (ok, I did -- but it was a really good deal)...I just had to try it, even if it was only just once. I can assure you now that this is not a one-time purchase. I love it!
Two days later it showed up on my front porch. That's right, two days! And I only paid standard shipping (it could have even been free shipping, I truly do not remember). I was so excited that I had to try it the very next day.
So now that you have had the painfully long backstory (I am long winded sometimes...my bad), let's get down to the details.
What is included:

So now that you have had the painfully long backstory (I am long winded sometimes...my bad), let's get down to the details.
What is included:
- Adorable purple & gold makeup bag
- 0.51-fl oz Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer (the whole reason I bought it)
- Amazonian Clay Eye and Cheek Palette with:
- One 0.20-oz blush in Talented
- Six 0.035-oz Amazonian Clay eye shadows in Pink Beyond, Taupe for the Best, Dreams Plum True, Out of This Pearl, Thistle be the Day, and Paint the Brown.
- 0.27-fl oz LipSurgence Liquid Lip Shine in Exquisite
- 0.24-fl oz Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara in black
- Double-ended eye shadow brush
- Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer Brush
The foundcealer is the whole reason I decided to purchase this set. As someone who has absolutely no beauty skill whatsoever, I loved the idea of combining steps -- concealer & foundation all-in-one is genius! I was a little skeptical about my ability to use brushes because I never had before, but the showing on QVC let me know what to expect. The lid of the foundcealer is actually a dropper which is really cool (though I admit I fight with it regularly). They said that only three drops would cover your whole face, but that is not the case for me. I have no idea whether it is because I do not know what I am doing or because it takes more to cover my flaws. Regardless, I still love it. The coverage is great; I do not worry about blemishes or scarring showing through. It ends up being a matte finish, which I love.
This is one of the best palettes I have ever purchased (and I actually do have quite a few of these). I love basic shades and that is exactly what these are...but amped up a bit! Before the items arrived, I was worried about the blush because I usually lean toward more of a berry shade, while this was more coral. However, I actually love it! I do not use it every day, but it is great when I want to switch things up. I have used all of the eyeshadows and love them also. They will all work with any skin tone.
The lip gloss -- oh my gosh. I am obsessed with it! The color is my favorite, a berry shade of course. The preview I watched on QVC said that it was full coverage so I will admit that I was expecting a little more from it. However, it is definitely still one of my favorites -- the shine cannot be beat!
I hardly ever wear mascara. I feel like my eyelashes are pretty noticeable on their own without help. But like I said, I had to try it all when I got this collection. And WOW! My eyelashes were huge. I loved it so much! I can literally count on one hand how many times I have worn mascara in my entire life and half of them have been this mascara. It's fantastic. Highly recommended.
I really do not feel that I have much to contribute regarding the brushes. Like I said, I have never used brushes before so there is not anything for me to compare them to. I can say that I like them, for whatever that is worth.
Bottom line, this collection is one of my favorite purchases and well worth it.
I believe the item is exclusively available through QVC at this time. If I recall properly, it will be releasing elsewhere at a later date, though I am not sure when that will be. Unfortunately, the deal that was running when I purchases it is no longer valid. However, you can still get this entire collection from QVC for $72.50, which is still a great value compared to buying them separately (plus you get a cute bag). I believe you can also still sign up for auto-delivery that will ship you a new set (& bag) every three months! I did not opt for this option since I was unsure if I would like that product and I am definitely regretting it now.
This post is not endorsed by either QVC or tarte; these opinions are 100% my own. If you already have this collection -- yay! Isn't it wonderful!? If you don't, I encourage you to at least try some of the products. Like I said, I have makeup and use it, but never before have I felt truly passionate about it. I will definitely be purchasing more from this brand in the future.
I hope this was helpful & someone out there shares my feelings about this awesome brand!
