As the weather starts warming up here on the East Coast, I have been dreaming of beautifully decorated patio areas. While I have a little patio area out back, it is far from ideal. I have been scouring the internet, searching for inviting outdoor spaces that I could easily mimic. I have not dreamt up the perfect space just yet, but I have come across some truly inspiring spaces. Here are some must-haves:
Country Charm
This may seem pretty straight forward, but I did not realize that one of the most-wanted features of my much longed for patio is just a bit of country charm. I love the hanging lantern over the mismatched patio furniture. It is just the right amount of country charm.
Pergola
Until I saw this photo, I was not very fond of pergolas. I cannot cite any particular reason for my former distaste of them; I guess they seemed...unnecessary. This particular space is perfection in my eyes. It looks as though the walls and ceiling were retracted, exposing this beautiful room. The pergola is what pulls the entire space together -- making it a whole space, a flowing room...spectacular.
Mood Lighting
What is the point in an outdoor space if you are unable to truly enjoy it in the evening? I am not sure how to address this wish with my current space, but I love the hanging lanterns and miscellaneous lights suspended from these beautifully blooming trees.
R&R Space
While I could do with a little less country charm, I would still look a very simple R&R space. A cute little corner of the lot with a hammock where I can pretend I am somewhere else.
Screened In Area
Speaking of an R&R area, I have considered turning the space into a screened-in area. I know that my fur babies would love it, I just don't know if that is the route I want to go in just yet. I would absolutely adore a space like the one pictured above. I can just see it now -- lounging on the swing, reading a book with Stitches & Lady asleep by my side.

What are your must-haves for your outdoor living spaces? I am open to suggestions!
