As an avid book lover, it should come as no surprise that I am a sucker for a good, quality built in. I just love how versatile they are. Not only can they hold a variety of items (for those of you who may not love books as much as I do), but you can have them practically anywhere in their home.
Around Windows
The first time I decided that builtins were a must have in my life, they were situated around windows with a nice little window seat. I love this. You get to keep the gorgeous natural light in your space, but with added character. What I love about the photo in the top left corner, courtesy of Home Design Ideas, it is an even mixture of open shelves and hidden storage. Alternatively, the top right photo, courtesy of My Home Ideas, consists of all open shelving (perfect for us bookworms) surrounding a small window seat.
In the Bedroom
One place that I never considered builtins until I started researching was in the bedroom. Now that I have seen the amazing amount of storage created in the middle left photo, courtesy of Decor Pad, I have no idea why I never considered it before. Aside from the fact that I need all of the storage for my extensive wardrobe, I love how it makes the TV really fit into the room. I usually really dislike media in the bedroom, but this really makes it work. The middle right photo, courtesy of Thereodiva, also provides an extensive amount of storage in addition to a vanity area.
Workspaces
Perhaps one of my favorite uses for builtins is workspaces. The bottom left photo, courtesy of Decor Pad, shows a picture perfect kitchen built in. I am so in love with the workspace itself, but I also love how much additional storage it provides for dishes, cookbooks, etc. Decor Pad does it again with the last photo, consisting of this adorable little workspace complete with basket storage and hideaway doors.
What do you think about builtins? Where is your favorite part of the home to see them?
