I have come to the conclusion that being an Instagram addict may officially be bad for my health. I have spent a significant amount of time throughout the holidays looking through all of the gorgeous holiday home & family photos on IG and it is thrown me into a bit of a funk.
Looking at photos is one thing, but comparing them to what is in front of you is a whole different ball game. A very unhealthy ball game, at that. I am doing my best to remind myself that we all have our own separate lives, that may or may not be what they seem in photos. If you may be feeling the same way, just remember that comparison is the thief of joy. Comparing yourself to anyone else is ridiculous; we are who we are, we have what we have, and it is just the way it is. All that matters is our own happiness, not how we perceive the happiness of others.

Yes. Very true. I take part in your challenges from the UK. The positive is that I find it inspires me to shop my wardrobe. On the other hand the most unglamourous pic of a corner of my home can be made to look chic with a judicious bit of kicking away the rubbish out of shot. I do wonder whether I am the only one who does that. I am IG woman screaming to get out. - (IG name mutton_style)
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing, Anna! I often take my outfit photos as soon as I get to work and I am always worried about what may be in the background in my office. It shouldn't matter! It's hard to get out of that mindset though.
