Reflections of 2015

The new year has begun and here I am, still reflecting on last year. Overall, 2015 was just meh for me. Nothing special happened; it was just one day after another of mediocrity. But I still enjoyed looking back over some of my memories on IG....

The first snow of 2015 mean breaking in my brand-spanking-new Hunter boots. I rang in the new year with new hair color and new nerdy girl glasses. My Mom helped me hang up my new wall calendars in my office and we agreed that these black dry erase options were the best choice. I purchased my very first Macbook Pro for my birthday and now I will never go back to PC. Ever since Lady was rescued and became part of the family she has been clearly appreciative, but it has been a long process getting her to be fully comfortable. I am so incredibly happy that she has become the cutest snuggle bunny. 2015 marks the first time I fell in love with lipstick.

I have a few minor addictions that worsened in 2015 -- my love for Jazzman's funny coffee quotes, pattern play and Starbuck's (both the coffee and double chocolate cupcakes). Winter was SO cold...negative ten degrees should not even be possible. During the cold, I really got into layering...especially with adding bling to it. I also got a little more adventurous when it came to makeup, trying Tarte for the first time (and subscribing to Ipsy for six months).

I became obsessed with plaid. Ok, so maybe I already was...but it got worse (thank you, blanket scarves). I took part in MU's feminist campaign for equality. I purchased my very first Ink Well Press planner and became a complete and total #planneraddict. I struggled with jerks (who didn't) and they way they made me feel. I FINALLY discovered a pizza place closer than three hours away that I love. Which may or may not be where I spent my Friday's off during my two-month long four-day work week over summer break.

Some of those Friday's were also spent in Harrisburg, visiting my cousin & his family. We spent more time together last year than we have since we were probably eight years old. 2015 was the first year that I became a total Lilly Pulitzer addict. I took part in the third annual Patriotic Week, wearing red/white/blue outfits for the week surrounding Independence Day. I spent a significant amount of time throughout the year snuggling with my handsome man, Stitches. 2015 marked my first ever Goodreads Challenge. Unfortunately, I did not make my goal but I did read quite a few goodies because of it. Speaking of goodies, I finally got around to watching Gossip Girl on Netflix. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! When I finished the series, I seriously felt like something was missing from my life. I am going to watch it over again this year at some point.

My Mom & I finally had a chance to go back to Longwood Gardens for the first time in at least eight years. I discovered my love of soup in 2015 (especially broccoli cheese and loaded baked potato). Another love of mine, owls...I cut back on adding them to my office, but re-decorated to freshen it up a bit. I went a little overboard at Charming Charlie this year, but it made for some bling-tastic outfits. This is when I started taking some outfit detail shots. I should have taken a closeup of my detailed hair on Halloween. I conquered my first vintage hairstyle for my Rosie the Riveter costume. And after feeling like a terribly dressed local for an entire workday, I busted out my glitterific cat shoes shortly thereafter.

With the help my of my amazing students, I built the third annual Book Christmas Tree at work...and this is the tallest one yet! After some recovery time, I put up my own Christmas tree. This year's theme? Blue birds. As I am sure you can imagine, Stitches & Lady were intrigued by this theme and spent significant time under the tree during the holiday season. I screamed at the top of my lungs as the lovely miss Jenson, one of my most wonderful students, graduated from college. But not before my fantastic students helped moved 8000-10000 books in preparation for new carpet installation (we are still in the process of moving them back BTW). Lastly, I dabbled in true flay lays for the first time.

What are some of your favorite memories of 2015?
