A little over a week ago I started my Herbalife journey. It was my initial instinct to not mention this at all until I was at least one or two months into it, but some of my co-workers found out about it and that cat is officially out of the bag.
I want to start out by saying first and foremost that I am NOT posting this in order to sell you something. I truly just want to let you know what Herbalife is all about and share my journey with you. If after following my journey you feel that this may be something you are interested in, I am an Independent Herbalife Member and would be happy to help you. Seriously, no pressure. I am basically just using you all as my own personal therapists to share everything with.
Has anyone heard of Herbalife before? I just learned about it this year and only started using their products a little over a week ago. For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about, Herbalife is a global nutrition company who is committed to addressing the obesity epidemic through their exclusive nutrition, weight-management, energy and fitness, and personal care products.

How does it work? The core product is all about cellular nutrition -- nourishing your cells with the best nutrients, supporting your immune system (to fight off stress, toxins, etc), and maximizing your energy. Your Formula 1 Healthy Meal (shake mix) is going to count as a healthy, simple & yummy meal replacement. Formula 2 Multivitamin contains 21 micronutrients, to promote healthy bones, skin and hair. Formula 3 Cell Activation promotes normal mitochondrial function. Translation: these products want you firing on all cylinders.
Each person's Wellness Plan varies based on their goals. A typical nutrition plan looks like this:

My personal plan only calls for two protein snacks and because I eat lunch only three hours after breakfast, I shifted my mid-morning snack to after dinner. Also, I could not stand drinking two meals per day so I quickly started turning my shakes into food. There are so many options for using your shake mix for other items such as cake, pie, pancakes, protein balls, and more.
So, this is what my typical day looks like (my total calorie allotment is 1200, note that this varies for everyone based on their goals and personalized wellness plan):
8am: Mug Cake (that's right, I mix my shake into a mug cake...because who can say no to cake for breakfast) + tablets (F2, F3 + total control)
11am: Shake + tablets (F2, F3 + total control)
2pm: Protein Snack (usually a Sargento Smart Balance, yogurt or Cracker Barrel cheese stick)
5pm: Dinner + tablets (F2, F3 + total control)
8pm: Protein Snack (usually a Light & Fit Lemon Meringue Whip or Light & Fit Strawberry Shortcake Greek Mousse)
On top of the core products, there are other products that you can add-on depending on your goals. Now I will not get into these because quite frankly, I don't know enough about them. I only brought it up for those of you who may be wondering about Total Control, since I just mentioned it as part of my daily routine.
When I began using Herbalife, it was brought to my attention when I refused to cut coffee out of my routine (which I was told is ok, by the way) that coffee actually slows your metabolism. I couldn't even believe it. I immediately went from having approximately 5 large and 3 small coffees per week to having 2 medium coffees total. I was, however, still worried that I would be sluggish without caffeine. By adding Total Control, a blend of tea extracts and caffeine, I take comfort knowing that not only am I stimulating my metabolism but I am also increasing my alertness.
Like I said at the beginning, I am only on my second week of using the products so I cannot attest to any long-term use yet. I can say that within my first week of using the product I lost 6 pounds, in addition to lowering my body age & BMI. I feel healthier overall; I am not constantly bloated, I am becoming more regulated and my moods have even improved.
Later this week I will give you a rundown of my food from this week and last & update you on any more progress. I am super excited about this journey to feel better & get healthy!
