I kind of gave up on month reviews somewhere along the way. I am not sure when or why it happened, or if it will continue on in that manner. Though we have already moved on into the new year, I want to take a minute and reflect on the past year.
This image is a bit overwhelming, but I am going to do my best to work through it. I am going to split it up by month and refer to the images by Row, Column (for example: my penguin sweater is Row 8 [R8], Column 5 [C5]).
January
I really enjoyed breaking in my brand-spanking-new pink Hunter boots. I was particularly pleased with them when the color matched my strawberry lemonade smoothie (R1, C1).
February
The pretty pink boots strike again! I just love how well they worked with my Valentine's wardrobe (R1, C2). Stitches was pretty anti-winter and hid under ALL the blankets (R2, C1) every chance he could get. While snuggling with Stitches, I started reading my first book of the year (R2, C2) and discovering one my new favorite authors. Apparently I was so engrossed in reading that I did not feel like doing my hair, which led to probably the one and only time that my hair was both up and on point...at the same time (R1, C3)! I finished off the month spending some quality time with the one & only, lovely Miss Aubrey (R1, C4).
March
On the last day of the previous month, I began my Herbalife journey. March means I was full-swing, knee deep in shakes (R2, C3) and loving the results! Speaking of great results, I was making headway at work too. After years of discussion, the Young Adult Collection (R2, C4) was finally a priority -- I assembled it toward the end of the month & it has been very well-received.
April
Lady turned into quite the little snuggle bug (R3, C1) and I could not be more pleased. 2016 was basically the year of experimenting with my hair. From various updos (R3, C2), styles, colors, etc...it was interesting (and traumatizing) to say the least. Since I was experimenting with my hair, I decided why not experiment with my wardrobe? I wanted to reintroduce some fun neutrals back into my regular rotation and was fairly successful (R4, C1).
May
This was a tough month for me. One of my greatest students, and dear friend, completed her degree (R4, C2). Yay, Brandy!! I was incredibly happy for and proud of her, but it definitely left a huge hole in my library family. I fought off my sadness by diving head first into my Herbalife mug cakes (R3, C6) and trying a smoothie bowl (R1, C6) for the first time. Oh, and I basically lived on strawberries all summer (R2, C5).
In terms of wardrobe, I made a pact to start wearing dresses and skirts again (R3, C5)! I have always been more comfortable in those than pants so I was eager to start wearing them again. It was super rewarding when I was finally able to get my hands on my most sought-after Lilly dress (R4, C4). I was also eager to get my hands on a new & fun pair of glasses (R4, C3), which was incredible successful. Zenni for the win, as usual! With all of this newness, it was important to me that I kept some of my oldies but goodies...like dress shorts (R1, C5)!
June
Another tough month. I was supposed to be on vacation, but I ended up cleaning out my Grandparents house after more than ten years instead (long story). It was awful, but I enjoyed taking a glimpse into my childhood through the windows of my dollhouse (R2, C6). When I got back to work, a woman tried to convince me she was born in 1878...and then realized it was actually 1978...our reactions were priceless (R1, C7). To wash the crazy off, we decided to turn our bookdrop into a hot air balloon (R2, C8). Crafting kicks Crazy's butt.
My inner fat kid fell in love with tacos for the first time ever (R1, C8). Look at what I have been missing!!! When I was not devouring tacos for super protein, I was indulging in Herbalife pies (R2, C7) AKA my go-to lunch.
July
The students were not sick of crafting, so they made the most fun Shark Week display (R3, C5) and we all loved us so much! After surviving Shark Week, the beautiful Nichole finally decided to tie the knot and that simply could not happen before a little wine tour (R4, C6).
I had so much fun with my wardrobe this month. I do not always enjoy my summer pieces, but some oldies ended up outshining other pieces (R3, C6). As always, my favorite week is Patriotic Week which is a week full of red, white and blue prompts always situated around Independence Day. My favorite outfit from the week included both stars & stripes (R4, C5).
I was a complete and total fatass, devouring all things ice cream (R3, C7 + R3, C8) for the entire month. It is a miracle that I was not as big as a house by the end of summer.
August
Luckily, I was fairly committed to a gym routine or the ice cream from the previous month would have resulted in me being lifted from my home by crane. This was around the time I became obsessed with cute gym clothes (R4, C7). Oh, and did I mention that I lost 20lbs!? Loving the before and after (R4, C8)...more after, obviously. I rewarded myself with a whole lot of Starbucks (R5, C1)...because that makes sense *eye roll*.
I finally made my way to Corning Museum of Glass and it was stunning (R5, C2)! Highly recommend it. I also was able to meet one of my favorite authors, Lisa Scottoline (R6, C1). She is seriously my soul sister, though far more brilliant and equally as hilarious! We both we wearing Lilly which inspired me to wear far more of it (R6, C2).
Heading back to reality, we wanted to do something new and fun with the bookdrop before the students came back. Cue: Honkin' Henry, our bookdrop school bus (R5, C3).
September
I had a wonderful opportunity to partner with Christopher & Banks to help promote their Girls Night Out event. They sent me promotional outfits to help get some hype going for the event (R5, C4) and then also to wear the night of (R8, C1). It was such a fun experience -- I love any excuse to hang out at one of my favorites stores with the world's best sales associates!
My heart was incredibly happy to spend a weekend in the city (R6, C4). I am seriously happier in Philly than probably any where else in the world; somehow all of the hustle and bustle just calms me. I did morph into a little tourist and did the Observation Deck (R6, C3) for the first time and the views of the city were breathtaking. Oh, and the Phillies (R7, C1)...swoon.
Back at work I enjoyed fun plaids and fall layers (R7, C2). After a year (or maybe two?) off, we decided to put up the Out of Reach Display in the Atrium during Banned Books Week (R8, C2). The display spans from the 2nd to the 5th floor and demonstrates how censorship keeps knowledge just out of reach.
October
In no time at all, I was back at Christopher & Banks promoting another event. I love collaborating with this store SO much. Plus, it gives me a great excuse to stock up on plaid and vests (R7, C3). At work I was flaunting the fact that I finally got on board with the bootie trend AND was loving it (R7, C4)!
I was finally able to get my hands on a cute Cat in the Hat costume for Halloween this year (R8, C4). However, to make it through Trick-or-Treating, I basically became a java junkie (R8, C3).
November
Let me start out by saying how excited I am to have taken the best selfie of all time this month...for me, anyway (R5, C5). One of my favorite outfits was patterned and textures, plus neutrals - it was perfection (R5, C6)!
Before the students left for Thanksgiving Break, we wanted to construct the book tree (R6, C5 + R6, C6) so they had ample time to enjoy it before Winter Break came along a few weeks later. It took nine hours to build and is nearly fourteen feet tall (including the two foot marble base).
On a completely random note, I went through my first black light car wash (R5, C7) and it was AWESOME!
December
Let's start off with the silly photo at R7, C5. I know you likely cannot read the writing, but it says "The salad counteracts the tatertots right?" Nichole and I went to use our last free lunch of the semester and they were out of pretty much everything we wanted. Salad and tatertots for the win!
I somehow forced my typically grinchy self to get into all things holiday. I made a stunning Home for the Holidays display at work (R6, C7; look up @northhalllibrary on Instagram for a closeup). We had a fun photo booth at our Student Winter Party (R6, C8), which is hands down one of the best parts of the semester. At home, I went with a traditional red & silver Christmas tree look (R7, C8) for the first time in many years and it ended up turning out much better than I imagined. Stitches & Lady loved the tree too! They both lived under there every moment they could (R8, C6 + R8, C7).
I even went a little overboard on holiday sweaters (R7, C6 + R8, C5)...but they are SO cute so how can you blame me!? Once I came down from my sweater high, I enjoyed relaxing in athleisure-wear during my week off (R8, C8).
Oh, and did I mention that I found a boyfriend? Yeah, he is that handsome hipster reindeer on R7, C7.
I know that none of this is overly exciting. I never claimed to live an exciting life; I live in the middle of nowhere after all. But this is my year in review. What were some key moments from yours?
This image is a bit overwhelming, but I am going to do my best to work through it. I am going to split it up by month and refer to the images by Row, Column (for example: my penguin sweater is Row 8 [R8], Column 5 [C5]).
