Well, it is my last Friday before the first day of the Fall semester. Today is Convocation so campus will be flooded with new students and their families and I am looking forward to all of the excitement.
Another thing I am looking forward to this month is Banned Books Week. As a Library Assistant and book lover, this is a week I am incredibly passionate about. I am 100% against censorship. I believe all people have the right to gain knowledge on whatever topics they want in whatever ways they choose. So to celebrate Banned Books Week, the prompts for that week are centered around frequently challenged books.
Patterned Monday:
4. Check It Out. Ease into some plaid or gingham today.
11. Jungle Fever. Again, I am just not ready to let go of summer. Let's get in some last minute jungle pieces.
18. Animal Instinct. What is your spirit animal?
25. Banned Books Week: Wallflower. Soooo Perks of Being A Wallflower actually has some fun fashions in it. But this is coming from someone who LOVED the 90s. If you do not want to go that route, opt for floral today (that's what I was thinking originally)!
Wild Tuesday:
5. Ocean Life. I don't know about you, but I am not quite ready to let go of summer. Fish, lobster, jellyfish, anchors, boats, etc.
12. You're A Hoot! In case you haven't caught on yet, I am a bit owl obsessed. Whether you have an owl tee or just owl jewelry, wear it today. Not an owl fan? Wear something that will make people laugh.
19. Woodland Chic. Moose, squirrels, and bear...oh my!
25. Banned Books Week: Wild Things. You can channel Where the Wild Things Are or you can opt for wildlife and/or animal print. The options are endless!
Wing It Wednesday:
6. Old & New. Combine old and new pieces to create a perfectly balanced outfit.
13. Denim on Denim. Because one piece of denim isn't enough! Texas Tuxedo, anyone?
20. Print Mix. For me, Fall equals lots and lots of print mixing. Time to get back in the habit today. Plaid and polka dots, gingham and stripes, stripes and floral...whatever strikes your fancy.
26. Banned Books Week: 1984. If you want to take your inspiration from the book or George Orwell today, feel free. What I actually had in mind was dressing like it is 1984 -- big hair, lots of bling, spandex -- whatever you can bring yourself to take part in.
Specific Item Thursday:
7. Team Player. Today is all about supporting your favorite team. Any sport, any level. Rock your kids' school colors, break out your favorite jersey or throw on a cap.
14. Blaze A Trail. Let's get ready for layering by topping off our look with a blazer today.
21. Kimono Cutie. I truly love the look of kimonos and now that I own a couple, I have no idea why I do not wear them more often.
27. Banned Books Week: Farewell to Arms. Soon the cooler months will be upon us and we will be hiding our arms under longsleeves and chunky sweaters. Get some sleeves on those arms today! Want to take a different route? Take some inspiration from Hemingway (but maybe don't go to work in boxers).
Colorful Friday:
1. Whiteout. Last chance white pants -- and everything else!
8. On Point Olive. I love that olive is still in style because I am finally on board with it.
15. In the Navy. What is more classic than navy?
22. Khaki Craze. Khakis are totally underestimated. Let's prove 'em wrong.
29. Banned Books Week: In Cold Blood. This is one of my favorite books of all time. Capote was a total nutjob, but it is so addicting. Let's go blood red with our wardrobe today.
Remember to use the #DelishStyleChallenge tag so I can see all of your gorgeous outfit creations. Be sure to check back -- I will be popping in for bits of inspiration when I can!
