It is hard to believe we are already moving into March, but I am ready. I have been trying to talk myself into wearing sweaters "while I still can" for weeks. Despite what the calendar says, Spring doesn't typically arrive until May in northern PA, but that doesn't mean we can't start breaking out our transitional pieces. Let's see what the wardrobe challenge has in store for us in the coming month...
For those of you who are new to #LLBwardroberemix, here is how it works:
Each month I am going to give you 40 prompts, broken down into 8 categories. You can do any prompt, from any category, on any day you want. This challenge works around your schedule, while still providing a hint of inspiration.
Brand
#CatoConfident. I don't know about where you live, but where I live Cato is a hidden gem. Or at least it was until it closed. Very few people knew about it or it's amazing deals, fun colorways and super cute prints. I don't often advocate for buying more more more, but if you have one in your community, I highly recommend checking it out.
[GAP]ples and [BANANA]s. I am a Gap lover, for sure. I don't go often since there isn't one nearby, but when I do I basically crumble under the weight of all the stuff I buy. If you love Gap & Banana Republic as much as I do, let me see your favorite pieces!
Maxxinista. I admit, I rarely have patience for TJ Maxx. I want what I want, when I want it. Digging through endless racks has never been my thing. However, I have found some fantastic pieces there once or twice. More importantly, I love seeing all of your amazing TJ Maxx finds!
Never Gets Old Navy. ON has the best staple pieces, am I right? Besides, I look for any excuse to wear another pair or pixie pants.
Sperry Lovely. Warmer and wetter weather is coming...time to break out the Sperry's!
Closet Cleanout
6mo unworn. Time to highlight a piece (or pieces) that have sat in your drawers/closet unloved for the past six months. Sink or swim -- either you wear it and love it or toss it in the donate pile.
1yr unworn. We all have those pieces that sit in the closet because we might wear them one day. Well, one day is today. Find that item that you haven't worn for at least a year and give it a shot today. If you love it, you keep it. If you don't, donate it. It's as simple as that.
A well-loved piece. Show us all one of your fave. That piece you can't get rid of because a piece of your soul would go with it.
Old pieces, new combination. I want to see all old pieces, nothing new. BUT...I want you to wear them in a completely new way. Whatever pieces you choose to wear should never have been worn together before.
Still has tags after 3+ months. Anyone else guilty of buying new things and then letting them sit endlessly with the tags still on them? Time to change that -- wear something that you bought at least three months ago and haven't worn yet. For the record, if you took the tags off then decided not to wear it, it still counts b/c there were no witnesses to it's greatness yet. Same rules apply -- if you love it, it stays. If you don't, new or not...it goes.
Color
Emerald City. Seriously, emerald is hands down one of the most gorgeous colors.
Enough green, let's tangerine! We all get a little green-happy in March. Take a day off and go bright & bold with a hint of orange instead.
Green with envy. Show off some shades of green today.
Mellow Yellow. Stay calm, cool and collected in yellow.
Minty Fresh. The best shade of green, IMO.
Pattern Play
Dots & Stripes. A very easy combination.
Double or Nothing. Two of the same pattern. Dots on dots, stripes on stripes, leopard on leopard...whatever strikes your fancy. Don't want to double up? Then it's solids only.
Floral & Gingham. I know it sounds weird, but give it a try. I was super skeptical the first time and now I adore it.
Plaid & Dots. A little unorthodox, but it's a fun combination.
Stripes & Animal Print. The first pattern play I ever tried. If you're new to it, start here. Striped shirt with an animal print scarf or flats. Be still my heart.
Shoesday
Bootie Babe. Boot season may be winding down, but booties are here to stay for a while longer.
Did You Say, D'orsay? The fanciest flats of them all.
Fab Flats. Show off your favorite pair of flats.
Mule It Over. Weather is warming up so let your heels have a little fresh air -- slip on a cute pair of mules for a day.
Tom, Bob or Chuck. Toms, Bobs and Chucks, oh my! I am a Tom girl all the way, but Sketchers has been killing it with their Bobs prints. If you prefer converse, then by all means rock your Chucks instead.
Specific Style
Blaze A Trail. Top off you outfit with a blazer.
Blue Jean Baby. Some people love leggings, but I love jeans. I could wear them damn near every day.
Bunch of Buttons. Cardigans, button down shirts, snap jackets...whatever speaks to you.
Fancy Pants. Patterns, bright colors, coated...whatever makes a pair of pants stand out to you.
Statement Sleeves. Flap around like a bird with me -- show off some fun statement sleeves.
Spring Is In
Get Destructive. I don't know about you, but I retired destructed denim during the winter months. I have no desire to expose bare skin to the elements. Now that a warmup is around the corner, I am itching to get them back out.
Garden Party. Because I simply love a good floral.
Last Chance Winter. Last call for your favorite winter pieces, whether you've had a chance to wear them yet or not is up to you.
Show Some Shoulder. Off the shoulder, cold shoulder, cami...
Tie Dye For. Yes, I am that girl. That girl who still, despite no longer being a tween in the ninties, loves (and still buys) tie dye.
Top Layer
Cozy Fleece. Cozy up in a fleece (or fleece lined leggings, perhaps?) while the weather is still on board with that game plan.
In the Trenches. I don't know how much more precipitation I can take, but at least I love to rock a good trench coat.
Leather Weather. Make a statement in a leather jacket.
Useful Utility Jacket. Utility jackets have been all the rage for a couple of years now. Us girls with hips sort of hate them, but I also sort of love them.
Your Best Vest. Last call for vest weather!
For my fellow paper lovers out there, I have a printable again this month (8.5x11 only).
As always, remember to use the #LLBwardroberemix hashtag so I don't miss out on your fantastic outfit creations. I can't wait to check them out!
