I don't know about you gals, but I am more than ready to say goodbye to March. This month has been overbooked and incredibly stressful. Besides, I am ready to start seeing some greenery outside and warmer temps in the forecast. Who's with me?! More importantly, April brings Library Week! One of my absolute favorite times of year. Naturally, I included five prompts inspired by my inner (and outer) book nerd. Let's see what our wardrobe is about to look like --
For those of you who are new to #LLBwardroberemix, here is how it works:
Each month I am going to give you 40 prompts, broken down into 8 categories. You can do any prompt, from any category, on any day you want. This challenge works around your schedule, while still providing a hint of inspiration.
Accessories
Arm Candy. Load those arms with bling!
Belted Beauty. Belt an oversize dress, accentuate your figure or simply hold up your pants with a cute belt.
Put A Bow On It. Top off your look with a cute bow. In your hair, on a headband, wear a piece that ties...whatever strikes your fancy.
Statement Earrings. Statement earrings are all the rage right now! Show off one of your fave pair.
To Infinity & Beyond! All scarves are fantastic, but the ease of infinity scarves simply cannot be beat.
Color
Big Deal Teal. Teal is kind of a big deal...it always looks fantastic on everyone!
Blue Skies. Give me all the shades of blue this month (& every other month, really).
Earth Tones. Keep it neutral with some beautiful earth tones in celebration of Mother Earth (perhaps on Earth Day).
Mauve-lous. Marvelous Mauve. Oh yes....it's baaaack!
Purple Rain. Let's dye those April shows purple for a little twist on the wettest month of the year.
Easter-Inspired
Basketweave. Toss a basketweave sweater in your bag one chilly morning...you might need it!
Chic Chick. Show of your chicest look.
Elegant Eggshell. Wear a polished eggshell colored piece or pop some fun egg-dying colors. Your choice!
Hippity Hoppity Handbag. Any handbag will do. Hip encouraged. Hopping not required.
Pretty Pastels. I. Love. Pastels. Pants, tops, blouses...TIGHTS!!
Library Week Themed
50 Shades. Of whatever color you want. I plan to channel Charlie's Angels this day -- they can rock a monochrome look like no other!
Call of the Wild. Let's see those animal prints (or prints of animals, of course)!
Cat in the Hat. Cats or hats, either will do.
Secret Garden. I am always up for a good floral pattern. Who's with me?
White Oleander. See above statement. Or go bright white...your choice!
Patterns
Fine Lines. Let's see those stripes, ladies!
Floral Frenzy. Yes, I know, more floral. I'm sorry, I can't help it...especially this time of year! I promise to at least try to dial it back for next month.
Going On Safari. Zebras, Giraffes and Leopards, oh my!
Snake in the Grass. Snake print is everywhere right now. Do you have any yet or are you avoiding the trend? I have some left over from the last time it was "in" luckily, because I haven't quite gotten back into yet.
You Zig, I Zag. Chevron, chevron, chevron!
Specific Item
Baseball Tee, Cap or Jersey. It's baseball season, baby!
Perfect Pixies. Old Navy pixies are arguably my most worn work pieces. If you don't have any, I highly recommend them. Note that sizing is erratic; after many online returns I have learned to only buy in store.
Ready for Rain[boots]. I mean, I'm not really...but at least they are cute!
Right to Bare Ankles. I am envisioning ankle pants, but I suppose skirts and dresses work as well.
Strong Suits. Let's see those suit separates!
Texture
All About That Lace. I have been dying to get my hands on a pair of destructed jeans with lace patchwork. If I can't get my hands on a pair by the end of the month, I will likely opt for a lace overlay dress.
Classic Cotton. There is no easier prompt in the world.
Crazy for Crochet. It is popping up in stores again and I have to admit, I don't know how I feel about it.
Daring Denim. Get out of your comfort zone and wear denim that makes a statement.
Oh Hey, Chambray! Chambray shirts have become a classic -- everyone should own one!
Trending
80s/90s Throwback. Yeeeessssssss! Big shoulders, leather, neon, acid wash, mom jeans, backwards caps. I. AM. PUMPED.
All Things Embroidered. A trend I hope sticks around for a while.
Fringe Benefits. Yo, I hate fringe. But I love tassels. So basically, anything goes with this one.
Tie Dye & Acid Wash. I am the tie dye queen. Not really, but it never left my wardrobe so I am adequately prepared for it's return. Acid wash on the other hand, ick. Though my Mom is potentially going to kill me for making me get rid of her acid wash jeans (from when I was in elementary school) when she realizes it's a thing again. See you in my next life.
Vintage Colors & Patterns. I am so looking to the amazing fashion in This Is Us for this prompt. They have the best patterns, styles, color combos.
There are so many fun prompts coming up and I cannot wait to see how you interpret them. Remember to use the #LLBwardroberemix hashtag so I don't miss them! Happy wardrobe mixing!
