I cannot even believe summer is basically over. I feel like it was just July about two days ago, but here we are, a week away from September. What better way to celebrate the first day of school tomorrow than with the release of the September edition of #LLBwardroberemix!? Since Banned Books Week kicks off later in the month, I am excited to have a Banned Books Week category inspired by some of the most frequently banned titles.
For those of you who are new to #LLBwardroberemix, here is how it works:
Each month I am going to give you 40 prompts, broken down into 8 categories. You can do any prompt, from any category, on any day you want. This challenge works around your schedule, while still providing a hint of inspiration. Why 40? So you can skip the ones that simply don't work for you!
Animal Instincts
Leopard Spots. Leopard never really goes out of style in my opinion, but it is very in right now. Seriously, it's everywhere...and I'm here for it.
Snake Hunt. While the snake hunt trend dialed back a bit over the last month, it is still going strong and I am not totally sick of it yet...so at least there is that.
Woodland Chic. Seriously, I love this prompt. It is one of my favorites and I only do it in Fall/Winter. Showcase your favorite woodland animals (fox, owl, bear, squirrel, etc) OR channel a lumberjack with a pop of plaid.
You're A Hoot. Because owls are my fave. Next to kitty cats, of course.
Zebra Stripes. I. AM. STOKED. That zebra is making a comeback. And even moreso that I didn't give all of mine away from last time.
Banned Books Week
Animal Farm. Animal prints, animal furs (faux, I hope), animal jewelry, or prints of animals.
Beloved. Show off one (or more) of your most beloved pieces.
Clockwork Orange. Yo, I love orange. I hated it briefly, but then I looked back on 9th grade when I died my hair orange and everything I owned was also orange...and now I am into it again. Yay, nostalgia.
Farewell to Arms. We are going to be layered in sweaters before we know it so get another wear out of your favorite tank or tee.
Where the Wild Things Are. Basically, I just wanted an excuse for more animal-themed prompts. Sorry not sorry.
Color My World
Act Neutral. Neutrals are all over the place right now and I am 100% on board with this. Keep it classic!
Green with Envy. So I don't know how I feel about this whole pistachio trend, so I am keeping this one broad with green in general.
La-la-lavender. I have always thought of lavender as more of a Spring trend, but I'm not hating it hanging around into the Fall.
Think Pink. On a Wednesday, perhaps?
White Out. While we still can! If you believe in that whole thing, anyway (which I do not).
Denim Trends
Button Fly. I fully admit that I never got on board with this trend any other time it popped up. This time though, I WANT IT ALL!
Destructed. The trend that keeps on trending.
Kick Flare. Was wildly outspoken against this trend at the beginning of summer, but now I am on board. I am still "meh" on the cropped version, but excited to break out the old flares I hung onto from college.
Patchwork. I have, and always will be, here for this.
Raw Hem. Yeah so I am not a huge fan of unfinished hems. They are unprofessional and therefore I can only wear them half the time, but I am willing to give it a shot. I bought a pair on Poshmark this summer and rolled them so you couldn't tell...at least I am trying.
Goodbye Summer
Bright Babe. Neon, baby.
Cropped or Rolled. My ankles are not looking forward to being hidden for the next six months. Just saying.
Last Chance White Pants. Again, I don't really believe in that whole thing because white pants are bomb in the winter, but I know some of you do so let's get another wear in before Labor Day.
Squareneck. I honestly have no idea if this trend will fizzle out with summer, but just in case I wanted to do it again (b/c I love it so much).
Stylin' Sandals. Show those toes!
Patterns
Double the Dots. Because one set of dots simply isn't enough.
Falling for Floral. Who isn't?
Gorgeous in Gingham. Again, who isn't? Seriously, anyone can pull off gingham.
Jungle Fever. Because Summer isn't officially over yet.
Mystic Medallion. Medallion print or necklace, you choose.
Throwback Thursday
1960s. Shift dresses, capris, miniskirts, houndstooth, paisley, pillbox hats. Pastels, neons.
1970s. Bell bottoms, platform shoes, brights, sequins, tie dye, peasant shirts, capes. Rust, copper, camel, pistachio.
1980s. Sweaters, high-waisted pants, wideleg, crop tops, straight-leg, stirrup pants, tunics, matching blazer, kitten heel. Black, white, plum, gold, indigo.
1990s. Colored jeans/tights, denim shirts, bike shorts, shoulder pads, skater dresses, geometric patterns, flannels, ripped jeans, monochrome outfits. Neons, orange, coral, wine, pastels.
Oldie but Goodie. Something you have had for years and years.
Trends Ahead
Asymmetrical. Asymmetrical hemlines are pretty hit or miss for me, but there are some good ones out there.
Belted Blazer. An upcoming trend I am not sure how I feel about. You?
Fierce in Feathers. Yes, feathers. I have my reservations as well.
Long Skirt. Knee, midi or ankle.
Quilty Pleasure. Quilt-like pieces. Another hit-or-miss, but I am open to it.
I am super pumped to see your transitional autumn style so be sure to use the #LLBwardroberemix hashtag!
