We have all had bad days, right? Definitely. Even the happiest, most upbeat people have days that are less than ideal and that is okay. It happens.
When I have these bad days, they can sometimes become all consuming. It is like a normal day has never existed; my entire life has been a compilation of one bad day after another. We all know this is not the case. Bad days happen because they are a staple in our lives. Having all good days simply is not possible and as cliche as it sounds, we would not appreciate them if they were all we knew.
What I am trying to remind myself is that this bad day is just that -- a bad day. It is not a bad life or a series of unfortunate events (though I guess it could be, in theory)...it is simply a bad day. I think for me these bad days seem to blow up because I zoom in on all the bad. It's a bad day, so what? I want to learn to just run its course so I can get through it as quickly and painless as possible.
If you suffer from all-consuming bad days like me, I encourage you to do the same. There is no reason to torture ourselves more than necessary. Let's just get through it.
